Pavišić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac. According to some sources they are from Turopolje and from Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Krizevci. In Apatovec in Krizevci every seventh inhabitant had the family name Pavišić.
Prevalence
About 540 people with faimily name Pavišić live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 650 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Zagreb (100), Velika Gorica (80), Krizevci (35), Bol on the Island of Brac (30), and in Split (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
