Pandžić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Pozega area, rarely Bosniaks (from Bosnian Posavina ), and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Grude area) and in Pozega.
Prevalence
About 730 people with faimily name Pandžić live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 59 other places, mostly in Zagreb (180), Osijek (75), Split (65), Donji Emovci (45), and in Pozega (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
