Orlić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Krk , less frequently Serbs and Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rijeka. In Punat on the Island of Krk every seventh inhabitant had the family name Orlić.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Orlić live in Croatia today, in 570 households. There were 1600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 62 cities and 100 other places, mostly in Zagreb (170), Punat on the Island of Krk (130), Rijeka (120), Pula (120), and in Split (80).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
