Omeragić families can be both Bosniaks (the family name originates from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia) and Croats (also from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Velika Kladusa area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area). In places Rajnovac and Kumarica in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every eighth inhabitant had the family name Omeragić.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Omeragić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Gunja in Zupanja area (20), Rijeka (10), Karlovac (10), and in Split (10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Omeragić is present in 27 countries worldwide. The family name "Omeragic " is used by some 300 people in the United States , about 200 in Germany , and some 200 people in Sweden.
