Omanović families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Cazinska Krajina Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (also from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Velika Kladusa area) and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Kljuc area). In places Biljani Donji and Kumarica in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Omanović.
Prevalence
About 180 people with faimily name Omanović live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Pula (50), Zagreb (45), Rijeka (25), Gunja in Zupanja area (10), and in Vodnjan in Pula area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
