Obšivač families are Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area. According to some sources from Korcula or from Metkovic or Metkovic area (Zazablje). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Metkovic and in Opuzen area. In places Bijeli Vir and Vidonje in Opuzen area every fourtieth inhabitant had the family name Obšivač.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Obšivač live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Metkovic (90), Mliniste in Opuzen area (20), Cadjavica in Slatina area (15), Donji Miholjac (<10), and in Zagreb (<10).

Family name Obšivač is present in five countries on three continents. The family name "Obsivac " is used by some 200 people in Czech Republic , small number in the United States , and small number of people in Australia.
