Ožegović families are often Croats and they are mostly from Novi Marof area. According to some sources they are from Sibenik, rarely Serbs and Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Drnis.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Ožegović live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 570 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 30 cities and 39 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Split (30), Drnis (20), Sisak (20), and in Koprivnica (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
