Mutić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Vrlika , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Middle Bosnia (Vares area). In Vinalić in Vrlika every thirtieth inhabitant had the family name Mutić.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Mutić live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Slavonski Brod (35), Karlovac (20), Lukac in Orahovica area (15), and in Sesvete (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
