Mujanović families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Semberija (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area) and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Velika Kladusa area). In Zapolje in Podrinje (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Mujanović.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Mujanović live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Pula (40), Zagreb (40), Osijek (10), Crikvenica (<10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
