Morović families are Croats and they are mostly from Zman on Dugi (Long) Island. According to some sources they are from Sveti Filip and Jakov close to Biograd na Moru. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and Sibenik. In Jadrtovac in Sibenik every sixth inhabitant had the family name Morović.
Prevalence
About 420 people with faimily name Morović live in Croatia today, in 210 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 24 other places, mostly in Zadar (70), Zagreb (60), Sveti Filip i Jakov in Biograd na moru area (40), Sibenik (30), and in Jadrtovac (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
