Morić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Benkovac area , rarely Bosniaks from Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Benkovac area and in Sibenik. In places Crljenik , Stankovci and Velim in Benkovac area every third inhabitant had the family name Morić.
Prevalence
About 930 people with faimily name Morić live in Croatia today, in 410 households. There were 740 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 39 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Zagreb (230), in Stankovci (120) and Crljenik (95) in Benkovac area, Rijeka (90), and in Zadar (90).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
