In Croatia, Morača families are mainly Croats (from the Island of Lastovo ), rarely Serbs (from Cazins Region (Bosnia) ), and very rarely Montenegrins (from Nasice area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Nasice area and in Beli Manastir area. In Bukovača in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Morača.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Morača live in Croatia today, in 12 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and threee other places, mostly in Split (<10), Novigrad (<10), Pula (<5), Donji Miholjac (<5), and in Osijek (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
