Mirčić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Vares area) and in Middle Bosnia (Sarajevo area).
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Mirčić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Karlovac (10), Zapolje in Nova Gradiska area (<10), Kastel Novi (<10), and in Kolan on the Island of Pag (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
