Milinković families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Gospic. According to some sources they are from Pazariste and east Herzegovina, often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Gospic and Zagreb. In Kokočak in Orahovica every fourth inhabitant had the family name Milinković.
Prevalence
About 1100 people with faimily name Milinković live in Croatia today, in 500 households. There were 1300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 67 cities and 113 other places, mostly in Zagreb (225), Gospic (45), Rijeka (35), Osijek (30), and in Brsadin in Vukovar area (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
