Milišić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Solin , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Solin. In places Mujakovići and Pidriš in Middle Bosnia every eighth inhabitant had the family name Milišić.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Milišić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Solin (90), Split (70), Zagreb (50), Vranjic (35), and in Sibenik (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
