Miličić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Zupanja. According to some sources they are from Bistric near Livno or Brusje on the Island of Hvaru, and very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zupanja and Split. In Brusje on the Island of Hvar every fifth inhabitant had the family name Miličić.
Prevalence
About 890 people with faimily name Miličić live in Croatia today, in 380 households. There were 910 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 79 other places, mostly in Zagreb (175), Stitar (105), Zupanja (65), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (55), and in Split (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
