Surname Mehić in modern Croatia

Mehić families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area) and in Western Bosnia (Livno area). In Mudrike in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Mehić.

About 260 people with faimily name Mehić live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 39 cities and 29 other places, mostly in Zagreb (70), Dubrovnik (45), Osijek (30), Rijeka (15), and in Sibenik (15).
