Maravić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Ogulin , whereas often Croats (Trogir) and according to some sources from Zedno on the Island of Ciovo. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin and Rijeka. In Drežnica in Ogulin every sixth inhabitant had the family name Maravić.
Prevalence
About 670 people with faimily name Maravić live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 790 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 46 other places, mostly in Zagreb (125), Dreznica (115), Rijeka (105), Trogir (40), and in Ogulin (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
