Maračić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Krk. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Kakanj area) and in Rijeka. In Slapnica in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Maračić.
Prevalence
About 380 people with faimily name Maračić live in Croatia today, in 160 households. There were 370 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Rijeka (35), Punat on the Island of Krk (30), Kampor on the Island of Rab (25), and in Zadar (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
