Malinić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Beli Manastir area , whereas often Croats (from Pozega ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Beli Manastir area and in Rijeka.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Malinić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Rijeka (25), Karanac in Beli Manastir area (25), Zagreb (20), Beli Manastir (<10), and in Vukovar (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1716 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
