Majstrović families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Vrgorac. According to some sources they are from Tomislavgrad area, rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vrgorac and Split. In Dragljane in Vrgorac every fifth inhabitant had the family name Majstrović.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Majstrović live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Split (25), Solin (25), Makarska (20), Zagreb (15), and in Dragljane (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
