Lukšić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Split. In Kostanjevec Podvrški in Samobor every fourth inhabitant had the family name Lukšić.
Prevalence
About 1000 people with faimily name Lukšić live in Croatia today, in 450 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 49 cities and 107 other places, mostly in Zagreb (115), Split (70), Sutivan on the Island of Brac (65), Rijeka (35), and in Pula (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
