Lozić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area). In Mrđebare in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Lozić.
Prevalence
About 880 people with faimily name Lozić live in Croatia today, in 340 households. There were 240 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 41 cities and 74 other places, mostly in Zagreb (115), Dugi Rat in Omis area (80), Djakovo (75), Split (75), and in Mravince (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
