Lalić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Makarska area , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Vodice. In Čista Mala in Vodice every second inhabitant had the family name Lalić.
Prevalence
About 1900 people with faimily name Lalić live in Croatia today, in 870 households. There were 2500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 72 cities and 166 other places, mostly in Zagreb (280), Sibenik (90), Tucepi in Makarska area (90), Split (85), and in Rijeka (70).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over seventy times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
