Labinjan families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Buzet area , less frequently Italians (from Slovenia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Pazin. In Kolumbera in Porec area every third inhabitant had the family name Labinjan.
Prevalence
About 250 people with faimily name Labinjan live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are only located in in 13 Croatian cities and 29 other places, mostly in Porec (40), Pula (20), Motovun in Buzet area (20), Skropeti in Pazin area (15), and in Brkac in Buzet area (15).
