Labaš families are Croats and they are mostly from Zlatar area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zlatar area and in Varazdin. In Stari Golubovec in Zlatar area every second inhabitant had the family name Labaš.
Prevalence
About 740 people with faimily name Labaš live in Croatia today, in 290 households. There were 850 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 62 other places, mostly in Varazdin (135), Zagreb (125), Stari Golubovec in Zlatar area (85), Sveti Matej in Donja Stubica area (65), and in Jamarica (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1683 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
