Kučinić families are Croats and they are mostly from Slunj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin and Karlovac. In places Ponor and Batnoga in Slunj area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Kučinić.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Kučinić live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 450 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 45 other places, mostly in Ogulin (100), Karlovac (90), Zagreb (55), Batnoga in Slunj area (20), and in Belajske Poljice in Duga Resa area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
