Krtić families are Croats and they are mostly from north Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in North Herzegovina (Konjic area) and in Karlovac. In Tovarnica in North Herzegovina nearly every inhabitant had the family name Krtić.
Prevalence
About 130 people with faimily name Krtić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Duga Resa (25), Stari Mikanovci in Djakovo area (20), Ivankovo in Vinkovci area (20), Petrinja (10), and in Slatina (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
