Kresić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Maglaj area) and in Dubrovnik.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Kresić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Vinkovci (20), Komaji in Dubrovnik area (15), Osijek (10), Vukovar (10), and in Dalj in Vinkovci area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
