Kršić families are often Croats and they are mostly from Virovitica area , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area). In Gornji Očauš in Bosnian Krajina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kršić.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Kršić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 290 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 30 cities and 40 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Turanovac in Virovitica area (20), Trpinja in Vukovar area (20), Pula (10), and in Borovo in Vukovar area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
