In Croatia, Kozarević families are mainly Croats (from Bosnian Posavina ), rarely Bosniaks (from Tuzla Region (Bosnia) ), and . In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Srijem, Vojvodina and in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Lopare area). In Velino Selo in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every seventh inhabitant had the family name Kozarević.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Kozarević live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Rijeka (10), Zupanja (10), Djakovo (<5), Cakovec (<5), and in Rusani in Virovitica area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
