Kolundžić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Daruvar area whereas often Croats (Pleternica) but according to some sources they originate from Lika. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pleternica area and in Daruvar area. In Puklica in Daruvar area every second inhabitant had the family name Kolundžić.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Kolundžić live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 39 other places, mostly in Slavonski Kobas in Pleternica area (60), Zagreb (55), Rijeka (25), Kakma in Benkovac area (20), and in Slavonski Brod (20).
Outside Croatia
Family name Kolundžić is present in this form only in Croatia.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
