In Croatia, Kazić families are generally Croats (from Jastrebarsko area ), rarely Bosniaks (from Middle Bosnia ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Sanski Most area). In Podgrab in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Kazić.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Kazić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 5 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Varazdin (<10), Goli Vrh in Jastrebarsko area (<10), Slavonski Brod (<5), and in Zabok (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
