Kapić families are often Croats and they are mostly from Cazinska Krajina Region (Bosnia), less frequently Bosniaks (also from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Cazin area) and in Split.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Kapić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 25 other places, mostly in Podstrana in Solin area (45), Zagreb (20), Zadar (10), Vir in Nin area (10), and in Virje in Djurdjevac area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
