Kapetanović families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Nasice area , rarely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Ljetovik in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Kapetanović.
Prevalence
About 700 people with faimily name Kapetanović live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 47 cities and 55 other places, mostly in Zagreb (170), Split (75), Zadar (35), Rijeka (35), and in Daruvar (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
