Kalabić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Slavonski Brod , also Bosniaks (from middle Bosnia) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Zavidovici area) and in Slavonski Brod. In Krasulje in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kalabić.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Kalabić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Makarska (10), Rijeka (<10), Slavonski Brod (<10), and in Rovinj (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
