Stipanović families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Djakovo area. According to some sources they are from Doljano near Jablanica (Bosnia), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Djakovo area. In Blizna Gornja in Trogir area every third inhabitant had the family name Stipanović.
