Jovetić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Slunj area , whereas often Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slunj area and in Ogulin. In places Lička Jesenica and Jezero i Dio in Slunj area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Jovetić.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Jovetić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 20 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), in Plaski (<10) and Jezero i Dio (<10) in Slunj area, Opatija (<10), and in Saborsko in Slunj area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
