Jovanić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Knin area , whereas often Croats (from Belisce area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Knin area and in Zagreb. In Veliko Blaško in Banja Luka Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Jovanić.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Jovanić live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Rijeka (20), Vinkovci (20), Brsadin in Vukovar area (<10), and in Rajevo Selo in Zupanja area (<10).
