Jerić families are Croats and they are mostly from Bozava on Dugi (Long) Island. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zadar. In Božava on Dugi (Long) Island every fifth inhabitant had the family name Jerić.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Jerić live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Bozava on Dugi (Long) Island (30), Zagreb (20), Lopar on the Island of Rab (15), Gata (15), and in Split (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
