Jelinčić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj and Zagreb. In Postira on the Island of Brac every ninth inhabitant had the family name Jelinčić.
Prevalence
About 430 people with faimily name Jelinčić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Zagreb (150), Postira on the Island of Brac (85), Glavice (65), Split (40), and in Sinj (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
