Januš families are Croats and they are mostly from Daruvar area. According to some sources they are from Gorskog kotara. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Novska.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Januš live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Pozega (20), Cepin in Osijek area (15), Zagreb (15), Josipovac (10), and in Pula (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
