Janošević families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Daruvar area , whereas often Croats (from Pleternica ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and in Daruvar area. In Komorica in Pleternica every ninth inhabitant had the family name Janošević.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Janošević live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Osijek (20), Nova Gradiska (20), Zagreb (15), Bijelo Brdo in Vinkovci area (10), and in Ernestinovo in Osijek area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
