Jagić families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. According to some sources they are from Dalmatia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Krapina area. In places Lovreća Sela and Štuparje in Krapina area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Jagić.
Prevalence
About 920 people with faimily name Jagić live in Croatia today, in 400 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 46 cities and 114 other places, mostly in Zagreb (230), Lovreca Sela in Krapina area (45), Varazdin (35), Rijeka (25), and in Ludbreg (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
