Ivanović families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Djurdjevac area. According to some sources they are from Dobrote, Montenegro, less frequently Serbs and Montenegrins (Rijeka). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Djurdjevac area. In Bukova Greda in Bosanian Posavina every second inhabitant had the family name Ivanović.
Prevalence
About 3800 people with faimily name Ivanović live in Croatia today, in 1600 households. There were 2800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 101 cities and 383 other places, mostly in Zagreb (760), Pitomaca in Djurdjevac area (230), Split (155), Osijek (140), and in Rijeka (115).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1571 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
