Ivčević families are usually Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Vis , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Drnis area. In Podhumlje on the Island of Vis every third inhabitant had the family name Ivčević.
Prevalence
About 340 people with faimily name Ivčević live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Split (95), Solin (60), Komiza on the Island of Vis (40), Zagreb (35), and in Ostarije in Ogulin area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
