Hruška families are often Croats and they are mostly from Cakovec area , less frequently Czechs (from Orahovica area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Cakovec area. In Bjeliševac in Orahovica area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Hruška.
Prevalence
About 200 people with faimily name Hruška live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Bjelisevac in Orahovica area (35), Gardinovec in Cakovec area (15), Bjelovar (15), and in Osijek (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
