Hošnjak families are Croats and they are mostly from Ivanec area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ivanec area and in Varazdin. In Donje Vratno in Ivanec area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Hošnjak.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Hošnjak live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Trnjani in Slavonski Brod area (20), Cakovec (15), Vinica in Ivanec area (15), and in Sikirevci (10) and Slavonski Samac (<10) in Zupanja area.
Outside Croatia
At least four families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States (3) and Germany (1). Family name Hošnjak is present in three countries.
