Herić families are often Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin , less frequently Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and Zagreb. In Rujići in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Herić.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Herić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Varazdin (25), Kozljak in Labin area (<10), Lipovljani in Novska area (<10), and in Dugo Selo (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
