Havić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , often Bosniaks (also from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanski Brod area) and in Slavonski Brod.

About 120 people with faimily name Havić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Slavonski Brod (70), Zagreb (20), Cerna in Zupanja area (20), Rasa in Labin area (<10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
